… clothing. The best images are the ones where you feel great. Your clothing should be whispering your style. Choose clothing to make you feel fabulous and comfortable and it will show in your final images.
… colors. Don’t be afraid of color! Bright, bold colors and even patterns (think plaids and stripes) bring a feeling of liveliness to your images and great contrast to your settings. However, it is a good idea to avoid large logos and graphics. You don’t want to look back and see yourself as a walking billboard.
… hair & makeup. Ladies, this one is mainly for you. Having your hair and/or makeup taken care of by a pro can increase your confidence and “wow factor” significantly. Even if you do the application yourself, keep your natural beauty in mind. The camera can easily handle an extra layer of makeup, but the idea is to highlight your features, not create new ones.
… accessories. Looking for a little something to bring a unique feel to your images? Consider accessories. Jewelry, hair pieces, watches, ties, hats and jackets are all good options for adding that layer of interest.
… variety. Most sessions allow for more than one change of clothing. Use this to your advantage and choose two different looks. One casual, and one more formal, is usually a good idea.
… props. We’ve all seen those senior photos with the awkward holding of the soccer ball. Let’s steer clear of that, m’kay? If you’re game, let’s actually kick that ball, hit that jump, or dive into a pool.
… confidence. Smile! You are fabulous! Our job is to let that shine through in all your images. Come prepared to have a great time, and the images will follow.
Thats it. 7 getting ready tips to help you have a awesome senior portrait shoot.
