As senior portrait photographers, our goal is to provide high-quality images that will ultimately capture your individuality. When getting ready for your senior pictures, here are a few tips to consider to make the most out of your session.
Clothing . . . We suggest bringing 2-3 outfits that make you feel comfortable and snazzy. Maybe try one of your favorite casual looks, as well as a more formal style—something you’d wear to an upscale restaurant. It’s also a good idea to set aside your clothing a few days ahead of time. Let’s try to avoid that straight-from-the-gym bag look (and smell). If possible, steer clear of logos and graphics.
Colors . . . Don’t be afraid of color! Bright, bold colors, and even patterns (think plaids and stripes) bring a feeling of liveliness to your images and great contrast to your settings.
Hair . . . In order to find that perfect harmony between shaggy and trimmed, aim to get your hair cut 2-3 weeks in advance. That’ll give you a chance for damage control in the event of a fiasco. We’re here to shoot you, so come wearing your routine hairstyle. If you’re looking to try out a new style, we recommend doing so a few days in advance.
Facial Hair . . . This one’s not for the bearded ones, it’s for the ones who want to be. We welcome stubble, but unless you can grow a full beard, it’s probably best to come cleanly shaven.
Accessories . . . Hats, jackets, ties and bow-ties are great ways to add a unique flare to your portraits. Just be sure not to overdo it. They should enhance your image, not distract from it.
Props . . . We love seeing all of the creative talents our seniors have to offer. Feel free to bring any props you feel will make your images more personalized. But we’d rather have you kick that ball, swing that bat, or strum that guitar than have you hold it. If you want to be captured in your uniform, let’s try to shoot on the field or in the pool— not just in the studio.
Style . . . While there’s no need to worry about poses or location, it never hurts to have an idea of what style you’re looking for. Feel free to look through our website to see what you’re drawn to.
Companion . . . Many choose to bring a parent along (after all, mother knows best) but if you'd prefer a buddy, don’t forget to phone that friend in advance. Pick someone who will help you feel relaxed and be yourself.
Arrival . . . This one’s easy. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes before your session to give you time to unwind and make any last minute touches to your hair or clothing.
Confidence . . . Smile! Our job is to capture your spectacular self. Come prepared to have a great time, and we’ll take care of the rest.
